HIRAGANA · ROMAJI · REAL STATION NAMES

Japanese typing practice with real station names

Read a station name in hiragana, then type it in romaji. This Japanese typing practice page is for learners who want to connect Japanese sounds with the letters they type. The examples below come from the game’s station data.

Start a station typing game

Hiragana typing practice: read, then type

  1. Read the hiragana for a station.
  2. Type a romaji spelling accepted by the game.
  3. Repeat with another real station name and notice the sounds that slow you down.

The game includes 602 railway lines and 8,783 stations. It is free to play, does not require an account to start, and works on desktop and mobile. Looking for a romaji typing game? Use the table below for a first set of Japanese words to practice.

Switch the game to English

Open the home page and choose English from the Display Language menu. The choice is saved in this browser, so the game interface stays in English as you continue.

The romaji in the table is one accepted game spelling for each reading. The game may accept other spellings too. For し, accepted spellings include shi, si, ci. The accepted spellings for かんだ are kanda, kannda, kan'da, kaxnda, canda, cannda, can'da, caxnda; the spelling of ん depends on the sound that follows it.
